Introduction about the contest

http://userbase.kde.org/images.userbase/5/53/Applications-graphics.png

In the context of the upcoming world-changing 0.40 release, we would like to refresh the OpenSync logo. This page is designed to collect ideas, proposals and drafts for a new logo. It might be called a contest, but it would be preferable to collaborate on the designing. Just post your image and feel free to comment on each proposal. You can use the "Attach file" feature of the wiki page to join your images.

Quentin's proposal

The arrows are inspired from the kitchensync logo and give a touch of "synchronisation" to the logo. They are not finished, I would like to redraw them more round and thicker. The "pen" is in italic and the font is "Arial Narrow" to have a not so large logo. I did not try many fonts, any proposal is welcomed. The two lines should some colors to the logo, although I am hesitating where to start them and how thick to make them.

Feel free to comment!

Pastel proposal

The red/blue of Quentin's proposal reminds me way too much of Palm's HotSync, so i sketched a different concept, pastel-based...

Comment:

Quentin (denisq): The logo is nice, but I would prefer it with arrows in the "O" instead of the stump endings. Could you attach the original file so that I can edit your logo to propose slight changes.

griffin: I've attached the SVG source for the logo itself. I used gimp to add the font (Calibri 100px) after rasterizing (smallest containing box, 100x102px, 17dpi). Note that i am not an inkscape guru, so had to fudge a bit... especially the fact that inkscape unfortunately does not provide a conical fade - any hints on how to improve that appreciated!

With arrows, stronger blue/green colors, and several different fonts - note that the SVG is now stand-alone: it includes the font and better conical fade... :

Good ideas - but I keep reading "Pen-Sync"...

Hello all. I have just noticed this "Logo Contest" here and even that I am not used to creating logos and I am not very good in graphics, I tried to produce something... Sorry if it is worthless, useless or too amateur. Feel free to adjust it in any way. ;-)

Everything flows.

Another idea. Not very polished yet, but maybe someone can build on it... It might look cool to have more of a "flow" of liquids between the two lines. Right now it's just a simple gradient.

Feel free to change anything at your will, e.g. to change colors.
