synchronizing from evo2 to Ericson k700 with syncml fails if vcard contains a picture

Reported by: jerome.lacoste@gmail.com Assigned to: abauer

Severity: normal Keywords:

Description

Syncing hanged. I could see that the same paquest are sent again and again to the phone using obex protocol. The vcard with the picture ended multiple times in the phone AB, each entry being incompelte (the picture doesn't display correctluy).

note: initially the pictures were too big in evolution. (created with an old evo). Now upon editing the vcard in evo, the picture got resized (at least visually). Not sure if that is the problem.

The resizing didn't solve it though.

Removing all pictures from my evo AB vcards solved the issue. Assigning priority high due to data loss

I ran into this issue with OpenSync? 0.34, synchronising between kdepim and the SonyEricsson? K700i with syncml-obex-client.

After msynctool reported that all changes had been sent, it hung while the phone seemed to continue receiving updates indefinitely. When I killed the process, I saw that the phone contained about a hundred copies of the same contact. It was one of the few in the address book that has a photo attached.

Still happens with 0.35. Anything I can do to help debugging? Oh, and I'm syncing from kdepim to a K700.

  • component changed from OpenSync to Plugin: vformat.

For me this sounds like an vformat issue. With latest 0.35+SVN the sync should at least timeout and not stuck.

Could you provide information which process timeouts (if any)? Does the plugin timeout?

Or does the engine get stuck while doing format conversion in an infinite loop?

Could you enable OSYNC_TRACE and just send the last 4 lines of each Trace file (see tracing?)? (feel free to replace sensitive information).
