Severity: major Keywords: encoding

There are many changes in the irmc-sync plugin regarding to encoding. Please give the latest svn revision of irmc-sync a try and let us know if this solve your problems. If you still have encoding problems, feel free to reopen this bug ticket.

Now I have the same problems with Kontact. All imported from PDA cyrillic data in Kontact is displayed as "?????". And btw "notes" data (text which can be added to each contact, to-do list item and so on in WM6) crashes to unreadeble characters both in Evolution and Kontact while trying to be imported.

Same problem here with OpenSync? 0.22 : All the non ascii characters (accents, ...) of the phone are transformed in "" in Kontact.

The linux encoding is UTF8. I don't know the encoding of the phone (Sony Ericsson z530i bought in France) but it should be something like Latin1, Latin9 or CP1252.

It seems like there is no encoding conversion during the sync.

I meant : the non ascii characters are transformed in two squares in Kontact.

ping! Bug opened 3!!! years ago with no progress. syncml-sync and kdepim-sync still have this bug. Trying to sync nokia e51 with kontact on opensuse 11.0 and 11.1 results in ????? instead of cyrillic. Latin names/surnames sync correctly. kdepim-sync still does not have any setings in kitchensync. What I see is: 1. add "encoding" or "charset select" combo to syncml part 2. add "Resource to sync to:" combo to kdepim part (choose proper kabc to sync to, etc.)

Not true! The original bug was fixed 2 years ago. The new issue has nothing to do with OpenSync? because it's a bug in kontakt/kadressbook in kde >= 3.5.9.

Please see https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=382959 for more information.

I'll close this bug as fixed again. Please reopen a new one if there are further issues in OpenSync?.
