There seems to be no way of configuring the file encoding of the files used by the file-sync plugin.

OSyncFileFormat aka. "file" works actually as binary blob.

Stefan, i guess you want to store a different format, encapsulated in "file" format, with a certain encoding - right? Which original format do you have in mind? vcard? icalendar?
